FAQ
Short answers to common questions.
Which systems does TowerPanel support?
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and 26.04 LTS on x86_64. Debian and AlmaLinux are not supported yet.
How much memory does the panel use?
About 10-20 MB for its two services. The rest of the memory stays with your sites, databases and mail. A VPS with 1 vCPU and 1 GB is enough for the panel itself.
Is the panel still available when Nginx is down?
Yes. The panel has its own port (5443) and TLS and does not depend on the web server it manages.
Do plans differ in features?
No. They differ only in the number of sites and panel users. See Pricing.
What happens when the license expires?
Everything you created keeps working. You cannot create new sites, users, databases, mailboxes, FTP accounts or DNS zones until a key is entered.
How is security organized?
The web part runs without privileges, and a separate root service accepts only typed requests. Sign-in supports two-factor authentication, and actions go to an activity log. Releases are signed.
Is there an API?
Yes, the panel supports API keys for automation.
How does the panel get updated?
From the notification bell, with one click. If a new version fails, the panel returns to the previous one by itself. See Updates.
